The solemn liturgy, presided over by Cardinal Fortunato Frezza and assisted by Deacon Massimiliano Floridi, was enriched by a program entirely composed by Mº Porfiri, reaffirming his profound commitment to the tradition of sacred music while offering a fresh and inspired interpretation.
The intimate yet majestic setting of the Doria Pamphili chapel provided an ideal acoustic and spiritual environment for the occasion. The chapel, adorned with centuries of artistic and liturgical heritage, resonated with the ethereal voices of Romaeterna Cantores, who delivered a performance marked by technical precision, expressive depth, and a profound sense of devotion.
Mº Porfiri’s compositions, rooted in the rich polyphonic tradition of the Roman School, demonstrated a masterful blend of counterpoint, harmonic sensitivity, and liturgical clarity. His settings of the psalms, hymns, and Magnificat not only honored the historical legacy of sacred music but also infused the texts with a contemporary vibrancy that captivated the congregation. Each piece seamlessly wove together intricate vocal lines with moments of contemplative stillness, drawing the listeners into a profound experience of prayer and reflection.
Cardinal Frezza’s officiation added further solemnity to the event, his presence underscoring the significance of Saint Agnes’ feast in the Roman liturgical calendar.
